We usually buy carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum in coil and sheet form, however, we will also buy plate, tubing, bar, structurals and many other types of material. We are interested in all types of surplus steel, including secondary, obsolete, excess prime, rejected or dormant material.
Will Surplus Metals Corporation buy rusty, stained or damaged steel?
Absolutely! You may have steel that is unusable due to rust, stains, dents, nicks, waves or other damage. However, just because it is unsuitable for your purposes, doesn’t mean that someone else can’t use it. We will buy your steel and find a home for it elsewhere.
Will Surplus Metals Corporation buy narrow coils and drop cuts?
Yes. We specialize in buying narrow coils, slit coils and drop cuts that other steel buyers won't buy. We will buy nonstandard-sized sheets as well as coils as narrow as one or two inches.
How does payment work?
Surplus Metals Corporation has an excellent credit rating and always pays its bills on time. We normally pay within 30 days of receipt of your invoice, however, in special situations arrangements for faster payment or payment in advance can be made. Our bank and credit references are always available upon request.
How quickly will Surplus Metals Corporation pick up your steel?
When Surplus Metals Corporation buys your steel, our freight carrier will contact you within one to two business days to make shipping arrangements. In most cases, your steel will be shipped out within three business days.
Who pays for freight and shipping?
When Surplus Metals Corportation buys your steel, we pay all freight and shipping costs. Our prices are FOB your facility. All you must do is load the steel onto the truck.
How much will Surplus Metals Corporation pay for your steel?
While we always pays a fair price for your steel, the reality is that there is no magic formula for determining what secondary steel is worth. It is worth some amount that is higher than scrap value but lower than prime. In determining price, we take into account the type of material, the quality and quantity of your steel, the chemistries of your steel, the demand for your particular steel, the location of your facility, the current value of scrap metal, and the cost of freight.
Is there a minimum or maximum quantity of steel that Surplus Metals Corporation will buy?
Surplus Metals Corporation has the financial capability to buy thousands of tons of steel anywhere in North America. More importantly, we have the experience and know-how to ship your steel quickly and professionally. For cost-efficiency reasons, we prefer to buy steel in truckload quantities, normally 40,000 to 46,0000 pounds at a time. In special situations, we will buy smaller quantities.
Does Surplus Metals Corporation buy scrap steel?
Surplus Metals Corporation is not a scrap company and therefore we will always pay more for your steel than scrap value. If you are scrapping your drop cuts, narrow coils or rusty steel, then contact Surplus Metals Corporation and get more money for your steel.
